When you’re not in the mood for the scene of being seen, places like Cafe Lumos are a nice oasis. Roll up in uggies and trackies if you like. Very few eyebrows will be raised. It’s that sort of place. Relaxed, casual and unpretentious, just right for Sunday brunch when you might be a tad seedy.
Cute, casual and friendly with a leafy deck lovely on summer mornings.
Sunday brunch, casual lunches and long chats over great coffee.
The love of the locals vibe. The quiet street and the universal quality of the food across the menu.
Cafe Lumos is a lovely little neighbourhood cafe at the top of White Gum Valley, on Minilya Avenue not far from Carrington and South Street. Lumos is an unpretentious option when you want to relax and enjoy and you’re not too bothered about the scene of seeing and being seen. There’s no room for parading and posers here. Just the peppermint trees, the quiet street, local shops and a sun dappled timber deck. Decorated with art by local artists and all sorts of foodie products, Lumos serves superb food and coffee.
Head down for a late breakfast, or an early lunch, or a coffee and a snack. Lumos is also open for dinner and in summer it’s a beautiful place to be. It’s very easy to stay for ages. We’ve enjoyed amazing breakfasts, tasty lunches and hugely satisfying dinners. So we go back, again and again. The brekkie menu features the usual suspects, all done unusually well. You will be delighted.
Lunch is well defined by a broad choice ranging including Bacon and Eggs if you’re a late starter. Then there’s Cottage Pie comfort food, Prawn and Scallop Salad a Nasi Goreng or a traditional Indian Curry if you want to get feisty with an asian foray.
By now you know exactly what Lumos is perfect for, so go there then.
