North Perth’s Old Laundry. Lots to love.
In the centre of the North Perth noshing strip, The Old Laundry maintains the standards it opened with.
Brekkie. Summer dining with multiple seating zones, inside and al fresco. Discovering new and unusual dishes.
Modernity with old charm.
The cute courtyard out back.
Window seats and alfresco on the street for peeps watching.
If you haven’t been yet, it’s probably about time to do the laundry.
The Old Laundry is an interesting venue in just about every way, and we mean that in a positive way.
This is a decent sized venue made to feel even more spacious by the clever creation of multiple spaces from on street alfresco seating to the out back courtyard and window seats and bar options too.
That’s the interesting interior.
The food is also intriguing and this is a great venue to discover new things. Like pumpkin bruschetta, for example. We’d seen it on the menu a couple of times before this visit but the time hadn’t been right to try it. This time we did and hey-ho! Pleasantly surprised - great texture (we were worried it might be mushy), and well paired with feta and a pesto drizzle.
And then there’s other interesting options for those who want excitement and discovery like a grilled chorizo and cuttlefish escabeche, the green beans and red onion crumble and a brick pastry beef cigar.
And the fit out is interesting too. The centre piece of the courtyard dining area is an old steam boiler from, yep, you guessed it, the original old laundry. Nice touch.
For us, this is a very well run operation from top to bottom. On this visit the service was exceptional. We were greeted at the front door and closely attended to for the duration. Our brekkies were great too.
If The Old Laundry keeps doing what they’re doing, they’ll keep doing very well indeed.
