Tucked down a Scarborough laneway and up a flight of stairs, a welcome mat is laid out in the form of vibrant, life-affirming artworks and the creative outlet of a drawing class fuelled by carrot cake and tea.
Artistic expression and the embrace of a local community cohere in this small, nurturing nest known as the Art Space Collective. People are welcome to the art space regardless of aptitude, budget or taste.
It is all about bringing people together to enjoy exhibitions, artistic sessions and lessons in everything from drawing and painting to macrame, cake decorating and classes for children.
